At this event, our Human Resources colleagues provided information about the company to all the young students that came to our stand. They also gave some tips on how to deal with the first experiences in the workplace. Among the issues we discussed during the day, we talked about our philosophy, methodologies, projects and technologies. Drupal, Java or Python are some students' preferences. They are increasingly interested in other trends in the current market such as Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. In addition, and to bring Emergya closer to these young people, our HR technician, Isabel Romero, explained in a presentation the current state of the market and the high demand for engineers posed by companies. Also, she described the challenges faced by the professionals of the future. On the other hand, using photos and videos, we showed how our days at Emergya are and some of our colleagues explained how we face the projects. Young people are increasingly interested, not only in what is done in companies, but also in how they work specifically Isabel Romero, Human Resources Technician As our Human Resources colleague Isabel Romero explains, "Young people are increasingly interested not only in what companies do but also in how they work specifically. For this reason, it is essential to focus on the methodological part and values when facing a job search. This applies both on the part of the company and on the part of the candidates. I've finished my degree, now what? At the internship fair, our team detected which were the principal concerns of people who will be working in the IT and digital field in the coming years. In this sense, our HR colleagues gave some guidelines based on how to make your CV stand out from the rest: Highlight which technologies/methodologies you are interested in, in addition to the ones you already know. Describe and explain your projects and how you tackled them. If you have a blog, mention it! Point out that you have participated in events or that you have an interest in the technology community. Share on social media, especially LinkedIn and Twitter, your achievements and progress with the technologies you are tackling. These small guidelines can help to overcome the first barrier of filtering through the mountain of CVs that arrive at companies. The next step is to face an interview where companies can get a clearer picture of the person behind the role. 6 mistakes you shouldn't make in your job interview The job interview is another crucial moment in the selection process. Here, our Human Resources colleagues also offer some tips on what to avoid in a personal interview: Don't be late. Punctuality is a virtue and will tell the company that you are a responsible person and that you are interested in the job. Don't flaunt your knowledge. There are many ways to highlight what you do or how you do it humbly. And, above all, show your interest in learning and developing professionally. Don't interrupt your interlocutor. You will have time to explain and report on everything they ask you and if in the middle of the speech you forget what the subject of the question was, ask again. Don't be underdressed. Indeed, nowadays you don't have to go to job interviews in a suit. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in, show your personality, but don't ever go to an appointment looking shabby. Don't show reluctance or lack of interest. Constantly looking at your watch or not paying attention to the people at the interview can lead to a lack of interest. Don't lie. Be honest about your skills and abilities and if you want to reinforce a point, emphasize your willingness to learn. We understand that the first access to the world of work is not easy, but following a series of guidelines, such as those indicated by our HR professionals, will surely make it easier. Go for it and don't get discouraged!
